ELIA VIVIANI IS AGAIN
TRACK CYCLING - 2022 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP SAINT-QUENTIN-EN-YVELINES
The "prophet" replicates his 2021 success in Roubaix and retains his jersey as World Champion, winning the elimination test at the Velodrome National in St Quentin, the same track that will host the Olympic Games in 2024.
After winning the European Championships with an extraordinary performance, Viviani reconfirmed himself as the strongest track cyclist in the world.
“I wanted to repeat last year's victory. We know that the Elimination is a race in which I am comfortable, but we are always talking about a World Championships and this year it was more hard-fought. The will to win was so great. And in the end I am exactly where I wanted to be. Now the goal is Paris 2024.”
It was a perfect race for Elia who, once again, with DMT on his feet and his famous sprints, towered over everyone and finished in first place, ahead of rivals Corbin Strong and Ethan Vernon, silver and bronze respectively.
“It's been a complicated year but when you wear these colors at the end of the season you can't say it went badly. I want to work on getting back to the top on the road as well but in the meantime I enjoy this win and the wedding next week”.
