After 249 kilometers full of challenges and adrenaline, Biniam surprises everyone with a spectacular sprint that leads him to the victory of one of the most important pavé classics. An incredible performance that marks a new era: the Eritrean talent in fact is the first African rider in history to conquer a great classic worldtour.

A historic success that brings the name of Biniam Girmay added to the list of the greatest cyclists who, during the 83 editions of the Gand-Wevelgem, won the first place in the competition. These include Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault, Francesco Moser, Tom Boonen, Mario Cipollini and Peter Sagan.
